Across three in-person convenings in 2025, the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and Brym’s Climate Is the New Economy series, with support from Con Edison, turned its attention to the deployment of community-based clean energy. Together, with our panelists and speakers, we explored how community is defined and engaged, the policy frameworks shaping project viability, case studies of projects that succeeded and those that stalled, workforce implications, and ownership structures and decision-making models.

The result is a document that captures what we’ve learned about equitable deployment through case studies and insights, and surfaces the structural conditions and policy required to make community-centered clean energy durable and scalable. Read the full report.
