Across three in-person convenings in 2025, the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and Brymโs Climate Is the New Economy series, with support from Con Edison, turned its attention to the deployment of community-based clean energy. Together, with our panelists and speakers, we explored how community is defined and engaged, the policy frameworks shaping project viability, case studies of projects that succeeded and those that stalled, workforce implications, and ownership structures and decision-making models.
The result is a document that captures what weโve learned about equitable deployment through case studies and insights, and surfaces the structural conditions and policy required to make community-centered clean energy durable and scalable. Read the full report. -

As the C2V Initiative enters its fifth year, our recent call for applications paints a compelling picture of where the industry is headed. With 165 applications spanning 33 countries across six continents (a record for us!) โ the global momentum behind using carbon as a feedstock remains strong.
Urban Future Summit 2025
The 9th Annual Urban Future Summit, the culminating event of the Urban Future Prize Competition, brought together climate entrepreneurs, investors, government leaders, nonprofits, and corporate partners to advance the future of climate innovation.
